My father use to tell me all the time where I got my nickname. I was daddy's little girl. I never wanted to share his lap with my siblings and I always wanted to cuddle with him.

When I would hang out with my grandpa, I would always ask to play the game and drive him nuts about it until he finally said yes. When we finally played, he would always laugh whenever I was frustrated or killed or when I did something stupid on the game. We enjoyed watching movies together. We watched wrestling, action movies and we even watched some of his favorite syfy shows and tv dramas like "Rescue Me". He was my grandpa but he was my best friend too.

My brother and I used to live with gpa and always knew exactly what I loved to eat! I really do miss his egg sandwiches A LOT! I always wanted one last one but I never got the chance to ask him :( But when I would come home from school, gpa would be sitting in his room, and I would walk back to mine, and I would see a box of Smiles just sitting there on my desk! Of course I would always come back out and say, "Thank you Gpa!" We would hug! I will always miss those hugs! I don't remember how I started calling him Gpa but the first time I did call him Gpa it just kind of stuck! :) He was the best Gpa a girl could ever ask for!

During a Thanksgiving family dinner in 1994, Dad said that he was cooking a big bird. Joshua, his grandson, who was 4 at the time, heard what Grandpa said and got upset. Becuase Josh had gotten upset, I had to show my son, Josh that big bird from Sesame Street was just fine by turning on the television.

Ray says: I remember going to Sidney and even though it was near the end of the month and there wasn’t much food to be had, Uncle Fred found a way to feed us. Well it was one of the best roasts I ever ate. He showed me his bike shop and all the tools it takes to build bikes. I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.

Dawn says: Uncle Fred taught me to love the water. When I was little (maybe 5) he took me swimming in a lit pool at night. He taught me to hold my breath, going under while he carried me on his back swimming. He let me touch the bottom. The lights underwater at the pool showed every ripple and wave.

After I was first married I went to Fred and Lorraine’s place to visit. They were buzzing around Bernadette who was a baby then. It was a day of cooking and Fred and Lorraine were a young couple. They were excited to share the Bernadette with me and share cooking tips. When Fred was little he was a 5 yr old cowboy. Fred was a doer, rough and tumble. He was always ready to join in where I was holding back. Fred made lots of friends. Over the last couple of years I have gotten several visits with Fred and enjoyed lots of telephone conversations with him encouraging me and me encouraging him. Fred will be missed.
